Well done to PhD Researcher Komal Khuwaja of Walton Institute at SETU, who is currently on a two-month DUCA secondment in Italy with University of Trento developing a Use Case supporting Big Data and AI from a health perspective.

According to Jim Clarke, the SETU project coordinator of DUCA, “Komal’s work is extremely valuable to the work package on Use cases as this use case will provide significant new information to the larger DUCA framework of usage management for AI and Big Data in health monitoring. Komal’s secondment will advance privacy protection and data protection capabilities for health parameter monitoring utilizing SETU’s developed smart wearable garment that contains embedded EEG and EMG sensors. The main objective is to perform in-depth investigations into data monitoring of physiological signals in conjunction with the bio-medical expertise of the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Sciences, University of Trento’s advanced knowledge of wearable technology. In particular, pre-processing and analysis of EEG and EMG data from our wearable, which is incorporated into flexible clothing, are the main focus. The joint endeavour seeks to investigate health parameters monitoring applications, such as epilepsy, brain/body monitoring, rehabilitation, analysis of muscle data, and stress analysis with significant added novelty to the distributed framework of DUCA)”.
